King's College London-
King’s College London was awarded a funding opportunity that allowed their AV Services team to integrate a fully digital system across 14 seminar rooms and 8 large lecture theatres. The world-renowned institution turned to GV Multi-media to take on the project as part of the second phase of their £1 billion redevelopment programme.
At the core of the installation is one of the largest Crestron Digital Media systems ever integrated within education at the time. GV Multi-media won the contract based on a flexible and bespoke approach that was tailored to the University’s needs.
The team had to integrate equipment into The Greenwood - a 460 seat lecture theatre. To make way for daily events, equipment in the theatre – primarily a fully integrated TeamMate lectern - had to be mobile. Induction loop systems were fitted throughout the rooms. Ampetronic systems were fitted throughout most rooms with Sennheiser infrared system applied where this was not possible.
Full HD Panasonic or 720p Hitachi projectors were integrated throughout the project with Dalen and Unicol mounts used. The units projected onto Draper screens as and where they were required.
In terms of audio, JBL and Apart speakers were implemented while the team opted for Ecler units when ceiling speakers were required. Within the TeamMate units used throughout the site, Sennheiser and Audio-Technica gooseneck microphones were installed.
Each of the integrated lecterns features a Panasonic Blu-ray disc player and WolfVision visualiser with all equipment controlled via a Crestron control panel on top of the unit.
Most of the rooms also feature Echo360 lecture capture systems. Every room in the project features a Tandberg videoconferencing system. Crestron RoomView has also been implemented throughout the system to allow for effective room management. – which is particularly useful considering the spread out nature of the university’s buildings throughout the city.
